Highland School District

The Highland School District was formed in 1964 with the consolidation of the Ash Flat School District and the Hardy School District. A.L. Hutson was the superintendent of the Hardy School District at that time and was one of the driving forces in the consolidation of the two districts. Mr. Hutson was named the first superintendent of the Highland School District and served in that capacity until he retired in 1986. The district encompasses 261 square miles. The incorporated towns of Ash Flat, Cherokee Village, Hardy, and Highland lie within the school district. All or parts of four retirement communities also lie within the district. These include Cherokee Village, Hidden Valley, Woodland Hills, and Ozark Acres. Twenty-six bus routes are run to transport students back and forth to school.
The Highland School District includes Highland High School, Highland Middle School, and Cherokee Elementary School. Each of these schools is fully accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education and by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Ronnie Brogdon is the superintendent of the district. Don Carithers is the principal at the high school. Dennis Sublett is the principal at the middle school. Tracy Webb is the principal at the elementary school.
The district website is located at http://highlandrebels.k12.ar.us Feel free to visit this site often. The site includes Edline which is a tool that can be used for communication between parents and teachers.
